Enjoy yourself. It’s later than you think. ~Chinese Proverb
I’ve been feeling pensive and restless since my birthday last week.
My past year of soul-searching sees me in a peaceful place and I’m proud of the person I am, but I feel there’s more to do to further enrich my life.
It is not that I’m mourning the loss of my youth because I am middle-aged, it’s about wanting to squeeze more fun in to each day by stepping out of my comfort zone.
When people tell me about their amazing life stories I can’t help comparing myself to them by thinking I’ve been too conservative with my life choices.
Today on Facebook I saw the following post and it hit home with me
Imagine there is a bank account that credits your account each morning with $86,400. It carries over no balance from day-to-day.
Every evening the bank deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day. What would you do?
Draw out every cent, of course. Each of us has such a bank. Its name is time.
Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds.
Every night it writes it off as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to a good purpose.
It carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft.
Each day it opens a new account for you.
Each night it burns the remains of the day.
If you fail to use the day’s deposits, the loss is yours.
There is no drawing against ‘tomorrow’.
You must live in the present on today’s deposits.
Invest it so as to get from it the utmost health, happiness and success. The clock is running.
Make the most of today.
So come on Jenna, take this challenge. Live for today, carpe diem.
Stop planning for the future. The future is today.
Be bold.
Postscript: I just saw this quote on another blog and thought it was a perfect comment to make on my own post “Seize the day”,
Ít’s way past your birthday now (which, by coincidence, was the same day as my sister’s birthday, the 26th June) and I’m hoping your restless feelings have passed by now. I had the same experience on my birthday in May this year and wrote a blog post, thinking my blogging friends would think I had gone nuts! The opposite happened, their response was wonderful and helped me get through my temporary negative feelings much faster. I often feel that my blogging friends know me better than my physical friends and family! 🙂

Love the quote. Perfect.
Blessings as you begin a new year –
I am trusting my heart more and more – Sometimes I am surprised with what I really desire.
Sometimes it doesn’t seem very exciting compared to other stories – but I’m ok with that.
I really enjoy the quiet moments. I always have.
Much love –

Your story is YOUR story, which makes it special, unique, and interesting, and there is no comparing your story to anyone else’s story. All of our stories are chapters in the book of humanity, so, make your chapter uniquely your own. Happy belated birthday!

Hi Jenna, I’ve posted this post about time in my blog too last month. Just want to make sure my girls read and remember this important lesson always. Time waits for no one. Sometimes it’s good to live life at the edge :). Have a great day! Much love, Pat
