Some say that my teaching is nonsense.
Others call it lofty but impractical.
But to those who have looked inside themselves,
This nonsense makes perfect sense.
And to those who put it into practice,
This loftiness has roots that go deep.
I have just three things to teach:
Simplicity, patience, compassion.
These three are your greatest treasures.
Simple in actions and in thoughts,
You return to the source of being.
Patient with both friends and enemies,
You accord with the way things are.
Compassionate toward yourself,
You reconcile all beings in the world.
~ Lao Tzu – Tao Te Ching

An important message. Maybe we can’t always live up to these principles, but it’s always helpful to have something positive to aim for.

Yes that is exactly how I feel too. Every day we may stumble but the intention is to keep trying to live with these principles. I feel if I do this I will be true to myself which is important to me. Love to you from Jenna

Life and society were different, when Lao Tzu was alive (I follow the Tao). That doesn’t mean that what he said isn’t the way to live, it’s just that we don’t exist in that world any longer. The electronic age has made life into something quite alien, when compared to the past. Violence is at an all time high. You can’t always put the above things, into practice. I am a native Chicagoan. Believe me, these are wonderful thoughts and people can try to practice them but if you want to survive, these things don’t always work. The world is a very different place and people are different as well. You have to work with what you have. People have to be realistic about what’s going on around them. Life is what it is, not always what we would like it to be. I wish things were different but they aren’t.

Thank you for your insightful feedback. Life today is different from ancient times and everyday we face violence and unrest in modern society. But that doesn’t stop me valuing simplicity, patience and compassion in my life. I accept life is what it is but only I control what I think about myself in the world. Love Jenna

I wish more people would understand this. Maybe the world would be a much better place for it. In the meantime, I can only influence myself to be at peace.
