About me

IMG_0155Hello fellow blogger, you are always welcome here to share your stories with me as I continue to share with you.

I’m Jenna Dee, an Australian woman who learned to listen to my inner voice that I’d muted for 50 years.

Why do I blog?
Blogging gives me a voice I previously thought nobody wanted to hear.  Blogging is my therapy.    I confront and explore my emotions through writing and become accountable for my thoughts by making my posts public. It regenerates my self-esteem and positively influences my life.

I’ve poured out my troubles and said things ‘out loud’ for the first time on my blog. I’ve written how my fears, perceived failures and regrets affected my life until I found a way to let them go. At first I had no idea I was communicating with other people but soon discovered blogging is an ongoing conversation with dear friends.

Blogging challenges me to accept what is, let go of what was and have confidence in what will be.

What makes me tick?

I choose to live a simple life and I’m grateful for the love of my family, my health and happiness.

The beauty and unpredictability of nature exhilarates my senses. I live by the sea and often walk along the beach and swim  in the sea. Breathing salty air and feeling the sea spray on my face invigorates my chi.

Usually I act rationally but once on the spur of the moment I adopted a lost dog from an animal shelter. This decision changed the fabric of my life in the best possible way. Words cannot describe how much joy my tiny dog Gracie Dee brings to me and our family.

After 23 years I felt compelled to stop using my married family name and become known by my family name at birth.  As soon as  I reconnected with my birth name it felt right.  I love my husband and it pained me to hurt his feelings by disassociating with his name, however I felt so strongly about reclaiming my identity that I had to pursue this change.

I hope I’ve shared a little about myself that might spark your interest to read some of my posts. And if not, that’s okay, it was lovely to meet you.

  2. Ni hao Jenna – I am so pleased that you enjoyed some of my blog posts, I am trying to convey my experiences of living in China to people who don’t. My views are my own, and I see the place differently than many of the young westerners who live here. I shall enjoy reading your blog.

  7. What an honest sharing! I live in Malaysia, but have grown up in UK, and the USA. I was priviledged enough to travel since young, so my perspective of life is very much influenced by all that I have come to see and learn. Having been previously married, I am a firm believer that women (more than men) tend to feel that loss of identity while in marriage. And possibly, even divorce. Suddenly, I’ve become so-and-so’s ex-wife. That’s my new tag to add to the long list of other labels we get branded with as we go along in life. I sincerely hope that you find your fulfillment and joy in 2014. Very glad that I found your blog too. Thanks for liking my post. Hugs 🙂

  8. Thanks so much for liking one of my posts. I actually lived in Kyoto for seven years, so we do have something in common. I love how you express your feelings and life so honestly. Happy New Year! Jane

  9. Hi, Jenna. 🙂 It seems we have something in common – Japan. When I visited there I felt strangely at home as well. If you haven’t already come across it, I would like to recommend a book called “Hitchhiking with Buddha” by Will Ferguson. He’s a Canadian who hitchhiked from one end of Japan to the other – there are so many things in it that will take you back there! And it’s funny too. 🙂

I look forward to reading your blog, and getting to know you! Cheers, Linda

  11. This is the first time that I’ve read your ‘about’ page (though I have read many posts and follow your blog). I smiled because I could just about ‘cut and paste’ your comments on my ‘about’ page, we are so similar! I find ‘sisters’ in so many various places. I do not live by the sea, but by a waterfall and stream, which soothes me every time I walk. When I read about your being drawn to 1900s Asia, I wondered if perhaps you are remembering a past life. Or if that is too fanciful, your DNA holds memory, so perhaps an ancestor spent time there. You can see I love to ponder! Love that you are sharing your spiritual path.

    1. HI Eliza,
I am very glad that we have connected through the blogging world.
For years I felt lonely and unusual because I didn’t fit in well with other people. I kept my thoughts within and was not true to myself. Since I discovered blogging I have found many other people who like and think about similar things as I do and this makes me very happy. Blogging allows me to express my feelings openly and honestly and be proud of the person I am.
Yes I have wondered why I have such a fascination for life in Asia in the 1900s as it seems much more than a passing interest. I’d love to explore whether I am recalling a past life but I’m not sure how I’d do this. Love Jenna 😉

      1. Here in the US, there are hypnotists that specialize in past life regressions, but maybe not in your area as yet. Have you ever read “Journey of Souls” by Michael Newton or anything by Brian L. Weiss? Good place to start. Fascinating stuff!

  12. Hi Jenna, nice to meet you. You have beautiful honest energy that shines through your blog. We’re both pursuing honesty, acceptance and enlightenment. It’s the only thing to do really. And like you I’m spiritual but hold no religious beliefs.
Thanks for stopping by our blog and for the ‘like’ – just a little more self-honesty eh?!
    Blessings
